In the morning, Her Excellency the Honourable Margaret Beazley AO QC, Governor of New South Wales, and Mr Dennis Wilson, toured HMAS Canberra, the Royal Australian Navy’s designated flagship, at Fleet Base East, Woolloomooloo.

Later, in a ceremony onboard the flagship, Chief of Navy, Vice Admiral Michael Noonan AO, appointed Her Excellency as an Honorary Commodore in the Royal Australian Navy.

In the evening, as a consequence of the Governor’s departure from the State, His Excellency the Honourable TF Bathurst AC, Lieutenant-Governor of New South Wales, assumed administration of the Government of New South Wales.
