In the day, Her Excellency the Honourable Margaret Beazley AO QC, Governor of New South Wales, chaired a meeting of the NSW Rhodes Scholarship Selection Committee, and conducted candidate interviews, at Government House.

In the evening, the Governor, accompanied by Mr Dennis Wilson, presented the United Nations Day Honours Award at the United Nations Gala Dinner, at NSW Parliament House.
