The Governor's 2019 Christmas Message
Her Excellency the Honourable Margaret Beazley AO QC
As we lead into Christmas, Dennis and I wish you every joy and happiness as you celebrate this festive season.
This has been a difficult year for the people of New South Wales with the dual impacts of bushfire and drought. We are humbled and grateful to be able to say that during these challenging times, we have seen the best in people.
The dedication of and collaboration among our various Emergency and other Services has been nothing short of extraordinary as has been the support provided by the many volunteers, all who have been at the frontline for so many months. New South Wales owes them a huge debt of gratitude.
It has also been heartening to see the goodwill, comfort, practical and logistical support provided within affected communities themselves, more widely by the people of New South Wales, as well as from communities outside the State who have reached out and provided much needed assistance.
In thanking everyone, we look forward to continuing to serve and support the people of New South Wales and community organisations throughout 2020.
We wish you a safe, peaceful and happy festive season
