The Governor, accompanied by Mr Wilson, as Visitor of the University, had the immense privilege of presiding at the Installation Ceremony for the 10th Chancellor of the University of New England, Dr Sarah Pearson, in Armidale.
Founded in 1954, the University of New England is Australia’s first regional university. In the 70 years since, it has built a proud legacy of serving in and for the New England and surrounding regions, enhancing educational opportunity for all, and contributing, through the advancing and sharing of knowledge, to the empowerment of local communities.
The ceremony solemnising Dr Pearson’s appointment included the Enrobing, in which Dr Pearson donned the Chancellor’s Robes, the Presentation of the University Mace, and the Chancellor’s Pledge, in which Dr Pearson, as public face and champion of the University, committed to celebrating and advancing the University's values of inclusion, aspiration, and innovation.
