Throughout the day, Her Excellency the Honourable Margaret Beazley AC KC, Governor of New South Wales, as Honorary Air Commodore of No. 22 (City of Sydney) Squadron, toured RAAF Base Richmond, and observed training activities, including inflight training on a Lockheed Martin C-130J Super Hercules.

In the evening, the Governor delivered the commemorative address and presented the Newton Award at the Annual FLTLT W. E. (Bill) Newton VC Commemorative Dinner, at RAAF Base Richmond.
