In the morning, as part of a visit to the Cities of Ryde and Parramatta, Her Excellency the Honourable Margaret Beazley AC KC, Governor of New South Wales, and Mr Dennis Wilson, visited NextSense School and Preschool at Macquarie Park, formerly the Royal Institute for Deaf & Blind Children. The Governor and Mr Wilson toured the centre and observed educational activities, including innovative and customised programs aimed at breaking down barriers for children, adults and families of people with hearing or vision loss.
Afterwards, the Governor and Mr Wilson visited Macquarie University Health, Australia's first fully integrated academic health sciences centre combining excellence in clinical care with teaching and research, where they met with staff and viewed the clinical, teaching and research facilities.
Subsequently, Her Excellency and Mr Wilson visited Thales Acoustics Centre of Excellence which supplies high performance acoustic sensors for sonars to the Royal Australian Navy and other allied forces. Her Excellency and Mr Wilson toured the Rydalmere facility and the Ocean Laboratory, before meeting Thales graduates and engineers.
In the afternoon, the Governor and Mr Wilson toured Sydney Water’s Ryde Pumping Station and Laboratories, where they met with Executive and Operational Managers and received an overview of Sydney Water operations and the Pumping Station’s history and heritage.
In the evening, Her Excellency, accompanied by Mr Wilson, hosted a Dinner at Government House for NSW Service Commissioners and Australian Defence Force Senior Commanders.
