Government House Sydney will consider applications from organisations to host a Non Vice-Regal Event at Government House which fit into one of the below categories.

  • Event hosted by an organisation where the Governor or Spouse is a patron
  • Event hosted by a charitable organisation (where the Governor is not a patron)
  • Event hosted by the Prime Minister, Premier, Federal or State Minister where the event, award ceremony or commemoration recognises citizens of New South Wales or is of predominant benefit to the State of New South Wales

All applications are submitted firstly to the Official Secretary. Once an application has been formally considered, Government House Sydney will respond to the applicant. The application process will take four to six weeks. Function applications will be approved no earlier than three months prior to the proposed date of an event.

All applications must be submitted in writing to Government House Sydney, Macquarie Street, Sydney, NSW 2000 at least eight weeks prior to the date of the proposed date of the function.

Private or commercial events, such as weddings, can not be hosted at Government House Sydney.
