The Governor, as Patron of Royal Life Saving NSW | ACT | TAS, had the privilege of presenting NSW Police Medals and Commendation Certificates to 11 extraordinary people from all walks of life who, alone or in coordination with others, in challenging conditions and often at risk to their own safety, came to the aid of another, often a stranger. In doing so, each embodied the best of who we are.

As the Governor said, in welcoming the recipients: "Your courage, your compassion, your commitment to helping others is beyond exemplary... Know that, in hearing your stories we are all the better for it, inspired and grateful, knowing that there are people like you living with us in our community."
