As Patron of the Royal Humane Society of NSW, the Governor had the immense privilege of presenting 46 inspiring Australians with awards recognising extraordinary acts of bravery. In moments of extreme difficulty and danger, each recipient—whether alone or with others, whether through instinct, conscious decision, or training—put their own safety at risk to come to someone's aid.

 

They are moments of crisis in which deep compassion, commitment to others, and selflessness coalesced; in which the deepest and most fundamental qualities of our humanity were exemplified, and the highest ideals we hold as a community were put into action... to look after each other, to support one another, and to step up, step in, and do all we can to help.
