On Thursday, 28 August, the Governor had the enormous privilege of hosting the 14th iteration of Ideas@theHouse, held in conjunction with the Royal Society of NSW.
For this session, Professor Bamini Gopinath, Cochlear Chair in Hearing at Macquarie University, delivered her presentation Busting Myths, Bridging Gaps: Public Health Approaches to Hearing Loss in Australia, in which she spoke on the prevalence of adult-onset hearing loss in Australia, the wide-ranging impacts and costs hearing loss causes individuals and the community, and the challenges implicit in integrating effective public health responses. She also shared insight into recent research efforts.
