Gunnedah and Narrabri

The Governor spent three days in and around Gunnedah and Narrabri, experiencing the beauty, culture, and community spirit that makes this thriving, diverse, and innovative region so special.
In Narrabri, the Governor's engagements included visiting the University of Sydney Plant Breeding Institute, touring Australian Recycled Plastics, meeting Narrabri High School students and staff, and hearing about local aspirations from Narrabri Council representatives.
Gunnedah engagements included meeting Gunnedah Shire Council representatives, learning about Red Chief Local Aboriginal Land Council activities, touring Gunnedah Leather Processors, attending the book launch of 'The Story of Gabo', participating in the 1st Gunnedah Scout Group's Emergency Services Night, meeting Primary Schools' Award Winners of the 2025 Dorothea Mackellar Poetry Awards and viewing the Jean Isherwood art collection at the Mackellar Centre, and enjoying morning tea with members of local Country Women's Association branches and Multicultural Women's Association.
