20180611 Queens Birthday Ceremonial Parade 01In honour of Her Majesty The Queen's 93rd birthday, Government House will be hosting two special events this weekend.

Queen's Birthday Parade – Saturday

On Saturday morning, the Queen's Birthday Parade will take place on the Parade Ground, in front of Government House.

From the moment the New South Wales Police Band marches through the gate at 10:30, spectators will be treated to a feast of colour, music and movement, culminating in a musical ride by the Police Mounted Unit at 11:15.

Multiple Marching Bands, Mounted Police, a Ceremonial Guard, Pipes and Drums, and an RAAF F18 Hornet jet flypast will feature in this event honouring the birthday of Her Majesty.

One hundred young men and women from three New South Wales Schools from the 2nd Brigade of the Australian Army Cadets, will provide the Guard which is central to the ceremony.

The Governor of New South Wales, Her Excellency the Honourable Margaret Beazley AO QC, will give an address and receive the Royal Salute. There will also be a salute to the absent Queen!

When: Saturday 8 June 2019, 10:30am-11:30am

Where: The event takes place on the Parade Ground of Government House, and can be viewed on the Royal Botanic Gardens side of the fence.

Additional Information: the event will be cancelled or modified in the case of wet weather. Any notice of cancellation or changes to the event because of weather will be posted on www.governor.nsw.gov.au at 7:30am on Saturday 8 June and on Facebook and Instagram @GovernorNSW

Queen's Birthday Open House – Sunday

Come to Government House on Sunday to explore the House, join a special “Back of House” Tour, view the "Queen's Album" exhibition, stroll through the grounds, enjoy live music performed by ensembles from the Corrective Services and Australian Army Bands, and enjoy a special visit from some members of the NSW Police Mounted Unit at 2:00pm

When: Sunday 9 June 2019, 9:30am – 4:00pm

Where: Government House Sydney, Macquarie St. Enter by the gates at the Conservatorium of Music

Additional Information:

  • Entry is free of charge
  • No parking is available on site
  • “Back of House Tours” are limited, and occur on the hour beginning at 10:30am, last tour at 2:30pm. Registration is available on the day on a first-come-first-served basis to those over 12 years of age.
  • When touring the house all items must be cloaked (except for handheld items such as a phone, small camera or enclosed water bottle
