WHEN: 9:30am to 5:30pm, Sunday 26 January 2020

WHERE: Government House Sydney, Macquarie Street. Access on foot via the Main Gate at the Sydney Conservatorium of Music on Macquarie Street. No parking on site.

  • Plenty of space to picnic in the picturesque gardens
  • Live music courtesy of the Fire and Rescue NSW Band and NSW Corrective Services Band
  • Information displays by community organisations

Escape to an oasis in the centre of the city’s harbour-side celebrations this Australia Day, for a free, fun and family-friendly experience at Government House, Sydney.

From 9:30am to 5:30pm on Sunday 26 January, discover Sydney’s ‘Castle by the Harbour’. Explore the exquisite State rooms, picnic in the magnificent gardens, check out emergency vehicles, or simply enjoy the great music on offer.

The Governor of New South Wales, Her Excellency the Honourable Margaret Beazley AO QC, said “Dennis and I invite you to come and enjoy this special day at the House. The beautiful redesigned Eastern Terrace garden will be starting to bloom, and our friendly guides will show you around.”

Chris O’Brien Lifehouse, Muscular Dystrophy NSW, The Society of Australian Genealogists, and St John Ambulance NSW are among the organisations showcasing their work throughout the day. A donation can be made to support these organisations.

The Fire and Rescue NSW Band and the NSW Corrective Services Band will entertain you and sausages will be sizzling, with sales supporting Scouts NSW - Normanhurst.
