This Australia Day come to Government House Sydney - the perfect location for a free, fun and family friendly experience.

WHEN: 12pm to 6pm, Friday 26 January 2024

WHERE: Government House Sydney, Macquarie Street. Access on foot via the Main Gate at the Sydney Conservatorium of Music on Macquarie Street. No parking on site.

WHAT'S HAPPENING:

  • Plenty of space to picnic in the picturesque gardens
  • Live music courtesy of the NSW Corrective Services Big Band and the Australian Army Band
  • Sausage sizzle and cold drinks for sale by Normanhurst Scouts
  • Fire and Rescue NSW Fire Truck and vintage Fire Engine displays and information stall
  • Royal Automobile Club vintage car display
  • NSW Mounted Police display and interaction
  • Self-guided tours of the House
  • St John Ambulance NSW interactive CPR and First Aid demonstrations, ambulance, and 'ambulance pushbike' displays

Escape to an oasis in the centre of the city’s harbour-side celebrations this Australia Day, for a free, fun and family-friendly experience at Government House, Sydney.

From 12 midday to 6 pm on Friday 26 January, discover Sydney’s ‘Castle by the Harbour’. Explore the exquisite State rooms, picnic in the magnificent gardens, check out fire engines, or simply enjoy the great music on offer.

The Governor of New South Wales, Her Excellency the Honourable Margaret Beazley AC KC, said “Dennis and I invite you to come and enjoy this special day at the House. The beautiful Eastern Terrace garden will be in full bloom, and our friendly guides will be on hand to show you around.”

The thoroughly entertaining Corrective Services NSW Band and the Australian Army Band will provide the soundtrack to a wonderful day out.
