The envelope should read:
Her Excellency Professor The Honourable Marie Bashir AC CVO
Governor of New South Wales
The Governor’s term is usually for a period of four years. However our current Governor was appointed to office on 1 March 2001 and it was recently announced by the Premier the extension of Her Excellency’s term to 26 September 2014.
Invitations for the Governor can be sent in two ways.
By postal address to: C/- Level 3, 121 Macquarie Street, Sydney NSW 2000
Email to: email@example.com
Please include details such as the date, time and location of the event, background information, and if you have specific requests of the Governor for the event (i.e. speech request, laying wreath, or opening).
It is recommended you first review the Patronage Guidelines. In meeting the requirements, submissions may then be forwarded in a letter to the Governor or in an email to firstname.lastname@example.org
Your letter should briefly outline the organisation’s background and purpose, followed by evidence of length of establishment and latest annual financial reports.
Congratulatory messages from the Governor and the Premier to those Australians celebrating the achievement of significant birthdays and wedding anniversaries are available on request through your local Member or Senator’s electorate office. To ensure that the information included on the message is accurate, it is necessary that a marriage certificate or statutory declaration be provided as proof of the date of an occasion prior to any message being sent from the Premier or the Governor.
On receiving the request, the Office of the Governor will arrange for a congratulatory message to be sent from the Governor to persons celebrating their 50th (Golden) 60th (Diamond) 65th and 70th (Platinum) wedding anniversaries, and 90th and subsequent birthdays.
The Australia Day Honours announced are presented in the month of May, with the Queen’s Birthday Honours presented in the month of September. A number of ceremonies are held over three days and are hosted at Government House. Further information can be obtained under the ‘NSW Honours and Awards’ section of this website.
Know any quiet achievers? Why not nominate them on the It's an Honour Website.
